Welcome
to the November newsletter from The Modern Apothecary
Spring has certainly arrived, with our jacaranda in bloom
and the warm, sunny days of summer just around the corner.
By now most of our seriously healthy customers have
completed their spring detox program and are enjoying the
benefits of having lighter and cleaner bodies. Now we are
preparing ourselves for the Silly Season, getting our
livers in shape and antioxidants on board for the
celebrations to come.
Sadly we farewelled one of our wonderful naturopaths this
month: Corynne Hughes has escaped to Costa Rica to work as
a massage therapist in a surf school there. What can we
say, Corynne, but “Go, Girl!” We will be
expecting some editorial contribution from Costa Rica for
our December newsletter – if the surf is not too
good.
In a surfing vein, we have welcomed our newest member of
the Apothecary team, naturopath and committed surfer, Jade
Ogilvie. Jade graduated from Southern University in
Naturopathy and joins us after a year’s retail
experience. You can read all about her on our soon to be
updated website. We have all immediately welcomed her into
our team with keen expectations – great to have you
on board, Jade.
This month we have a focus on all things ORGANIC –
from herbs and food to skincare. You may already be aware
that most of our custom blended teas and dried herbs are
organic in origin. We now have a biodynamic range of
herbal/fruit elixirs from
Wala –
you can pop in for a quick “shot” of these on
your way home or take a bottle with you as a daily
pick-me-up. Most of our customers will be familiar with the
beautiful
Living Nature range of
organic skin care from New Zealand, which we carry. This
month we have introduced a very special homegrown range of
organic botanical pure essential oil-based skin
care,
mvOrganics, developed
by natural cosmetic specialist, Sharon McGlinchey. Sharon
has just announced that her range has been voted a finalist
in the national skin care awards alongside all the most
famous French brands! These gorgeous products just have to
be tried to be believed – just how amazing your skin
can feel when you use organic skin care. And for the guys,
too – don’t miss out!
Last week we had a most enjoyable, informative – and
delicious - evening with Mike and Adam from the
Organic Food Network in
Brookvale. They revealed the secrets of the food industry
and the rigorous process that organic growers must go
through to bring their produce to your table. We also
learned about the dramatically higher nutritional content
of organically grown fruit and vegetables and how our
health can benefit. After all, as Hippocrates is reputed to
have said, “Let thy food be thy medicine”.
We served our Organic Festivitea and Organic Sencha brews
during the evening along with a spread of organic nibblies
to delight the palate.
